Scott Schmidt is a designer and researcher who works with communities, nonprofits, businesses and governments to develop and employ technologies and systems that support collective governance. He is currently a Research Associate at the University of Maryland Human-Computer Interaction Lab and Adjunct Professor in the Master of Design Management and Communications program at Georgetown University and Master of Public Administration program at Clemson University.
Previously, Scott served as a digital transformation lead at several federal government institutions including the House Committee on Financial Services, House Committee on Oversight & Government Reform, House Republican Conference, and Federal Reserve Bank. His work centered on leveraging emerging digital technologies in order to create a more open and transparent government while considering ethical and policy related effects.
Scott earned his B.A. in Communication and Political Science from the State University of New York at Buffalo and M.P.P. in Science and Technology from George Mason University.
